WPA #10: Hockney Inspired

This was definitely one of the most adventurous photo assignments I have done. My friend Jackson met up with me at my house, and we headed over to a nearby water tower at the end of my neighborhood. I knew exactly what I wanted my shots to look like, and I am happy with my final product despite that a few of the images got cut off on the top. In order to capture this we technically had to hop a barbed wire fence and climb a gated off ladder, but I think it was well worth it. My only post processing challenge was patience as it took FOREVER for these images to collage, even as JPEGs. Overall I had a fun time meeting up with my friend and creating something cool.

I do not know why Weebly pixelized this image, but I guess it gives it a creepy effect. I took these with the help of my friend Jake as a model. I had my idea from the start and I knew exactly what I wanted to capture and how I wanted to edit from the beginning, including adding the fog as an after effect. I think my final result nailed the topic for the idea I had, and I had fun in the process. Overall, this was a fun WPA to do.

WPA #8: Food Stylin'

I have to admit, I am quite pleased with my end result. I had no difficulty setting up my shots with several external lights and backdrop. I thought my shots were average overall, but I think it looks pretty good cropped on the template. I did not have too much fun taking these pictures as macro food photography is not my forte, but I ground it out. Overall a good product.

This was a pretty enjoyable photo assignment considering I was able to shoot within my comfort zone, landscapes. I had no challenges actually taking these images, as well as the photoshopping part. I did not expect to get a good image as I wanted to go to La Jolla to do this, but I lucked out at a local beach with some cool pools created by a wall of seaweed. Overall, this was a good WPA despite putting it off until Sunday night.

WPA #6: Four Age Groups

Dang this assignment was awkward, yet it was very fun at the same time. I had no difficulties taking the images themselves, HOWEVER, asking complete strangers inside a local wholesale food store to take their picture is just weird. I am satisfied with the shots I got overall. The best part about this was getting kicked out of the store after "[They] got some customer complaints about photographers in the store". What a laugh.

WPA #5: Painting With Light

This was one of my favorite projects to shoot despite the time slot I did it in. Usually I like how my final edited photos look, but I really enjoyed the process of taking these. I went to the San Elijo dump with Mason from my photo class, and we did steel wool. At the dump we I the whisk around while shooting a long exposure. I think my end result turned out great for the location it was shot in. For my other I got a sparkler and created a mini studio with a backdrop. Overall, I really enjoyed this weekly photo assignment.

WPA #4: Creative Self Portrait

Portraits are not my favorite, but I did have fun with this because it was challenging. I was excited about this project because this was a different type of portrait. It was one of me that I took and I had to use photoshop. Taking this was very hard because of the aperture I wanted to use (f/1.4). It took around 40ish tries to get the focus properly on my camera lens. In photoshop I layer masked several layers of myself to create the pixel explosion effect. I then overlaid some of my images on top of those larger "pixels" and on the lens of my camera to make it seem like I'm photographing a wave. Overall, I enjoyed the challenge of this project.

WPA #3 Minimalism

I had a cool vision for this project as I knew I wanted to use my drone. In such, I had to get creative because it is hard to capture minimalism with a drone. I decided that my primary colors would be green, white, and brown. I went to Ponto to get these photos. Overall I am happy with how my photos turned out and how they are very aesthetically pleasing, but I wish I had another image of leading lines to fill the middle left square.

WPA #2: Shallow & Wide

For this project I knew I wanted to do a portrait. I also knew it would be difficult to get my subject (K Tidd) to do the exact same pose for both shots, but I managed to do it - almost. I am happy with the final product overall, and I know I improved my plan compared to last week.

WPA #1: Ten Views

To be completely honest, these are probably some of the worst pictures I have ever taken. I tried to set up a mini photo studio with a backdrop and two lights, but this failed in the long run. I wanted to photograph something abstract so people wouldn't know what it was, and I think i accomplished that with some of these shots. Overall I was not excited to get back in the swing of things regarding homework.
